Ricoh announced as sole Japanese company shortlisted for RE100 Leadership Award

Ricoh Company is the only Japanese business to be shortlisted for the prestigious RE100 Leadership Awards announced by the Climate Group.
The Leadership Awards comprise six categories, with Ricoh listed as a candidate in the Most Collaborative Leader category, which celebrates companies that actively share their learnings with peers to enable a faster transition to 100% renewable electricity.
The inaugural Leadership Awards will recognise the leadership of RE100 companies in accelerating the transition to 100% renewable electricity. The award winners will be announced and receive a commendation at the RE100 Members Forum on Wednesday, September 23 at 21:00JST during Climate Week NYC, which will be held online between September 21-27.
RE100 is a global initiative led by the Climate Group in partnership with CDP, made up of influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity, working to increase demand for, and delivery of, renewable energy. Ricoh became the first Japanese company to join RE100 in 2017. There are now 38 Japanese companies among the 250 major businesses that are members of the RE100.

Ricoh is a founding member of the newly formed RE100 Advisory Committee, and the only Japanese company. Ricoh is also a founding member of the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP), RE100’s Japan partner, and has continued to stress the importance of joining RE100 through various events organised by the JCLP. In addition to Ricoh’s CEO’s keynote speech at the Climate Week NYC in 2018, the company recently announced its support for the United Nations Global Compact’s “Uniting Business and Governments to Recover Better,” and is actively disseminating information and collaborating to achieve this goal.

Ricoh is working to solve social issues through its business activities to realise a sustainable society in pursuit of the Three Ps Balance, which is the balance between Prosperity, People, and Planet. Based on this basic concept, Ricoh identified seven issues, selecting “realisation of a zero-carbon society” as one of them, and incorporated it into its business strategy. Ricoh will continue to contribute to the achievement of a zero-carbon society by accelerating energy-saving initiatives and renewables usage, as well as providing digital service to new ways of working.
