Ricoh's new high-tech DTG solution boosts growth opportunities

Ricoh has launched its new direct to garment (DTG) printer, the Ri 1000, that’s faster and more flexible with high quality images.

It offers numerous advantages including pre-treatment liquid that’s suitable for light polyester and polycotton blends, better 1200 by 1200 resolution, white ink, and a magnetic platen mechanism that enables quick, tool-less switching.

“This is the solution for personalised garment printing and print on demand services because of all the new functionality, the high speed, the superb quality, production flexibility, sheer versatility, the automated maintenance features, ease of use with the 7-inch touchscreen panel, self-cleaning, ink monitoring, and the built-in interactive guide,” says Charl Vogel, head of CIP at Ricoh South Africa. “It’s a smart device that really lets customers access new markets and push growth opportunities.”
“The pre-treatment liquid, for example, gives printers new opportunities for sportswear and other markets that were previously inaccessible,” he says. “It also supports continuous production and a wide range of sizes that produce everything from kids’ sizes to super wide designs from platens that are 406.4mm x 508mm.”
The robust system has four Ricoh print heads, offers advanced features such as temperature and humidity sensors, and precise ink supply monitoring. It cuts maintenance overhead through customisable cleaning options that maximise production uptime and the touchscreen display alerts operators to perform a few specific maintenance tasks.
It replaces the Ri 3000 and joins the Ri 100 and Ri 6000 in Ricoh’s DTG portfolio.
