Ricoh launches TotalFlow Print Server for sheet fed presses

Ricoh will launch TotalFlow Print Server R-61/R-61A, a new printer digital front end (DFE), for the Pro C9100 and Pro C7100 series of sheet fed colour presses.

The new DFE is designed to be highly compatible with major prepress workflow software for offset printing by enabling the same user interface to be used for offset and digital workflows.

“The new TotalFlow print server is compatible with Prinect, developed by Heidelberg and partners,” says Jacques van Wyk, COO of Ricoh SA. “It also incorporates the JDF and JMF standards for setting, communicating, and reporting print jobs and the renderer from Heidelberg, Kodak and SCREEN can be incorporated in the TotalFlow print server, which means users can achieve similarly high image quality for offset and digital jobs.”

The new DFE tightens integration of hybrid offset and digital print workflows.

“Printers want more efficiency and more flexibility because they’re facing developing market requirements of their own they’re trying to tap into and build into sustainable revenue streams,” says Van Wyk. “We’re focused on delivering what our customers need and want and this is just another example of Ricoh’s focused customer centricity.”

The new DFE offers the familiar interface for all devices for tasks including imposition and colour management, and in pre-press workflows, so they can turn jobs around faster, with less training, and greater efficiency.

Ricoh will also work with Heidelberg, Kodak, SCREEN and Agfa Graphics on marketing, product development, production, sales and customer support to provide added value solutions to the commercial printing market. Launch dates and availability of the supporting prepress workflow software varies by country or region.
