High-end digital press helps Ricoh secure second spot for worldwide unit shipments

Solid sales of the continuous feed VC60000 helped Ricoh claim second spot in worldwide production printer market share by unit shipments, according to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Production Print Tracker, August 2016.

The versatility, productivity, and print quality of the multidrop inkjet, continuous feed Pro VC60000 from Ricoh has been a hit with numerous customers, like CFI Technologies in France, famous for operating the fastest web presses in Paris at 70 000 reproductions per hour, which ordered two VC60000s.

“Our engineers designed the VC60000 to bring Ricoh into the upper echelons of the digial press market and judging on our customer acceptance from numerous businesses, and for a variety of reasons, it’s hit the nail on the head,” says Jacques van Wyk, COO of Ricoh SA.

Dutch graphics media solutions company Zalsman now switches print flexibly between its offset and digital presses without extra costs. Adare SEC decided to invest in two Pro VC60000s based on print quality. The VC60000 increases print resolution 60% and the high-density pigment ink creates better finishes.

EDC Expert, the Polish company, chose the Ricoh press for greater production flexibility, which gave it the ability to print transactional and advertising material on standard paper, without pre-treatment and without expensive inkjet-treated paper. Pondres, the Dutch full service print provider, plans to use the VC60000 to meet the challenge of market developments and accelerate its transformation into a digital production business to meet growing demand for quality marketing graphics as well as introducing new products and services. And Haberbeck chose the VC60000 to create a more agile customer offering.

The VC60000 was endorsed by Elsevier, a publisher of high quality journals, which added the VC60000 to its list of approved high quality digital presses. The Financial Times and the International New York Times also endorsed the device, both newspapers being printed by Hansaprint in Finland on the very first VC60000 ever sold. Hansaprint subsequently bought a second VC60000. Both also produce loyalty programme materials, direct mail, transactional material, and books.
