For the sixth consecutive year, Ricoh was ranked among the world’s leading corporations, underlining its leadership and innovation towards its environmental and social activities. Ricoh earned its place in the ranking by continuing to modernise work environments while meeting the sustainability needs of its customers and adding real business value. The ranking specifically highlighted Ricoh’s transparent reporting, compared to its peers, when communicating sustainability practices and initiatives.
Tom Wagland, Environmental Manager, Ricoh Europe said, "For the sixth year in a row, we are delighted to be recognised as one of the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. Sustainable innovation is at the heart of our research and development. We take great pride in our cradle to cradle approach to innovation, offering our customers technologically advanced solutions that contribute to environmental preservation from design to recycling."
From 2005 to 2009, the top 100 corporations in the world were selected from more than 1,800 large corporations in all business sectors, based on research and analysis of data provided by Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc., now owned by RiskMetrics, in the USA. In 2010, Corporate Knights collaborated with three strategic partners to identify the Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. The Corporate Knights Global 100 team included Inflection Point Capital Management – a sustainability-focused asset management venture founded by Dr. Matthew Kiernan, Legg Mason's Global Currents Investment Management, and Phoenix Global Advisors LLC (a consulting and technology platform focused on sustainability).
The companies selected for the Global 100 were analysed in detail, compared to their industry peers, and evaluated as the global corporations with the best-developed abilities to effectively manage environmental, social and governance risks. Achievement in these three areas, which significantly influences their business results, was evaluated as a key indicator of management quality and long-term financial performance.
